Peter Loux

Obituary of Peter Martin Loux

Peter Martin Loux, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2025. Born in Morristown to Edward and Elizabeth Loux, Pete grew up on Schooley’s Mountain in Long Valley and attended West Morris High School.

Pete owned and operated R & K Auto in Hackettstown and later went on to get his CDL and drive for Toys R Us for many years.

He had a lifelong passion for cars, particularly antique cars, collecting Chryslers, Studebakers, Packards and many more—so many, in fact, that he was at one time forced to apply for an auto dealer’s license. A proud member of the Hemmings Motor Club, Pete’s love for classic automobiles was matched only by his appreciation for music. He was an avid fan of Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, and Tom Petty, often filling his home with their timeless tunes.

He was a fanatical history enthusiast. Pete enjoyed going to museums, reading, and listening to historical podcasts. He visited most every monument in the tristate area and beyond.

There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. From home repairs to refurbishing automobiles, he took great pride in his workmanship.

He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, LaVerne Loux (née Stewart), and together they raised two cherished daughters. Pete was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and sense of humor, always ready with a joke, usually at the wrong, but needed time.

Pete is survived by his loving daughters, Holly Loux and her partner Mike, Laura Clark and her husband Daniel, Sisters Ann and Cathy; as well as his adored grandchildren, Piper and Ryder. He was predeceased by his wife, LaVerne, his parents, and his brother, Edward Loux.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, all services will be held privately.

The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time.
