Obituary of Rebecca L. Markle
Rebecca "Becky" Louise (nee Sliker) Markle, of Asbury, NJ, passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side, on June 6, 2025, at the age of 64.
Born on June 13, 1960, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Rebecca was the beloved daughter of the late David Sliker and Louise (née Todd) Sliker. She was raised in High Bridge, NJ, and graduated from Voorhees High School in 1978 where she was a member of the cheerleading team and the National Honor Society.
It was during her high school years that Becky met the love of her life, Don Markle. The two were married on May 26, 1979, and went on to share more than four decades of love, laughter, and family. Together, they made their home in Asbury, NJ, where they raised their two daughters, Jessica and Megan, and resided for 37 wonderful years.
Becky was a spirited adventurer at heart. She was an avid traveler and cruise enthusiast who found great joy in hiking, biking, and exploring new places such as Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. She especially cherished trips to the Finger Lakes, where she enjoyed wine tasting and the peaceful beauty of the region.
A proud Nana, Becky’s greatest joy came from spending time with her four grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Whether cheering on the New York Mets, planning her next trip, or simply enjoying time with her family, she brought warmth, humor, and joy to every moment.
Professionally, Becky worked for many years as a receptionist at the Round Valley Veterinary Referral Group and finished her career at Oldwick Animal Hospital, where her kindness and compassion were appreciated by clients and coworkers alike.
Becky is survived by her devoted husband, Don Markle; her loving daughters, Jessica Meyers and her husband Kurt and Megan Markle and her husband Joss Monda; her cherished grandchildren, Lincoln, Brody, Finn and Paige; her sister, Kathleen Bachman; sisters-in-law, Cathy Eberhart and her husband Mark and Karen Van Solkema and her husband Art; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Rebecca is predeceased by her parents, David and Louise Sliker; her sisters, Barbara Jean Sliker and Judy Ann Balcerzak; her mother- and father-in-law, Douglas and Shirley Markle; and her brother-in-law, Jim Bachman.
Rebecca will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her generous heart, the unwavering love she had for her family, and of course, her legendary homemade apple pies. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the lives she touched.
