John Hamilton

Obituary of John Hamilton

Harold John Hamilton II
“John”
Age 75

Harold “John” John Hamilton II, 75, passed away peacefully at Hunterdon Medical Center. Born in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of the late Harold and Madeline Hamilton. John grew up in North Caldwell NJ, a place he always considered home since he spent the majority of his school years there.

John graduated from West Essex High School in 1968 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. After completing his education, he returned home to North Caldwell and began working for his father’s civil engineering firm, Hamilton Associates. Dedicated, talented, and deeply passionate about his profession, John eventually took over the company after his father’s passing. His work in civil engineering, land surveying, and geology was not only his career, but a true calling.

In June of 1986, John married the love of his life, Sandra Jeannine Hamilton. Together they shared 39 wonderful years and made their home in Hampton, New Jersey. John was a proud member of the Clinton Kiwanis Club and several professional organizations. Outside of work, he embraced adventure: he was a certified scuba diver who loved traveling with his wife for diving trips, and he also enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and exploring the natural world. Geology in particular captured his heart—he found joy in examining the landscape wherever he went.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra “Jeannine” Hamilton; his step-son, Ronald Rittenhouse, and his wife, Jennifer; his sisters, Susan Sauer and Sandy Wise, and her husband, Sid; and his brother-in-law, BJ Walworth. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Hamilton I and Madeline Hamilton, and by his sister, Nancy Walworth.

Cremation will be held privately, and John will be laid to rest at a later date.
