Obituary of June Etta Silverthorn
June Etta Silverthorn (née Munnerley), 88, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hecktown Oaks in Hecktown, Pennsylvania.
June was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late Lessie and Samuel Munnerley. She attended P.S. 8 in Paterson before moving with her family to Oxford, New Jersey, where she continued her education at Oxford Central School and later Washington High School. During her childhood, June cherished summers spent at her family's farm in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, where she delighted in farm life and the simple joys it brought. She later attended Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island for one year.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, June was a devout Christian who fondly recalled accepting Jesus Christ as her personal savior at just five years old. Her faith guided every aspect of her life, and she truly embodied the role of a “prayer warrior.” June joyfully shared her faith with others. Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed teaching children's Sunday School classes, running Vacation Bible School programs, and participating in mission trips, including multiple journeys to Scotland to spread God’s word and the love of Jesus.
On July 25, 1959, June married her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Silverthorn Sr., at the Washington Assembly of God Church. Together they shared a beautiful life rooted in love and faith, raising six children and creating a home filled with warmth, devotion, and prayer.
First and foremost, June was a devoted homemaker, lovingly caring for her family. She also worked for many years as a machine operator for both the Bates Company and the Koh-I-Nor Corporation.
June is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob” Silverthorn Sr., her son, Robert “Bob” Silverthorn Jr. and his wife, Donna; daughters Sherrie Lipscomb and her husband, Steve, Tammie Fusciardi and her husband, Vincent, and Carol Hollahan and her husband, Rich; her cherished grandchildren, Rich Jr., Jason, Heather, Michele, Grace, Vincent, Robert III, Dawn, Richie, Maizy, Zoe, and Isaac; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of loving nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Lessie Munnerley; her daughters, Robin Johnson and her husband, Rich, and Barbie Howey and her husband, Dave; as well as her brothers, Samuel Munnerley Jr., Charles Munnerley, and Tom Munnerley.
