Rona was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 23, 1929, the daughter of Jacob Fleisher and Ana Rose Hiller Fleisher. She was predeceased by her brother, Mervin, and sister, Frances. Although she worked at many jobs over the years, her true vocation was her art. She graduated from Washington Irving HS in New York City as an art major and became a fashion illustrator. At 69 she had a Bat Mitzvah with a group of women who in their youth had been excluded from this ritual. In this, and other areas, she always spoke up for women’s rights and dignity. After retiring, Rona was able to pursue her love of art. She participated in and earned several awards for her exhibits at art shows.
