Obituary of Penelope Holt
Penelope W. Holt, formerly of Walpole, MA, died on Friday, December 19, 2008, in her apartment at Paragon Village, an assisted-living complex in Hackettstown, NJ, three days before her 97th birthday. Mrs. Holt was born on December 22, 1911, in Boston, MA to the late Joseph R. and Ethel (Brittain) Webster. She attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and in addition to being a full-time mother and homemaker, she worked as a sales associate and chief buyer for C. E. Holt Co. in Walpole.
Survivors: She was the wife of the late Charles E. Holt, Jr. and the mother of two sons, the late Charles E. Holt, III, a former professor of molecular biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and John R. Holt, a professor and chair of the English and Foreign Languages Department of Centenary College in Hackettstown. She is survived by her son John, eight grandchildrenâÂÂMelissa, Charles, Brian, Philip, Christopher, Gudrun, Nathaniel, and BenjaminâÂÂand nine great-grandchildren.
Services: In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be interred at a family plot in Milton, MA. A private memorial and interment service is tentatively planned to take place in Massachusetts in early February.

My thoughts are with you. I have fond memories of your mom during frequent visits to Lewis Ave and C.E. Holt's so long ago. Hope all goes well with your teaching and that you'll be making the trek to our 50th in 2010.
