Obituary of John Tinsman

John O. Tinsman, 98, of Washington NJ died January 23, 2011 in the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Twp NJ. He was born in Dunellen NJ December 24th 1912, He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Johnson Tinsman. Before retiring, Mr Tinsman had been an Asstitant Manager for Acme Markets in Washington NJ for over 25 years. A longtime member of the Washington United Methodist Church in Washington. He served as Lay Leader of the church for many years. He was an avid bowler and photographer. He enjoyed planning trips for Senior groups and was a member of St Josephs Social Club. Mr Tinsman served on the Washington Borough Council for 12 years and served as Mayor in 1972. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (nee Davis) Tinsman for over 75 years. Mr Tinsman is also survived by a son Richard of Lake City Florida, a daughter Elizabeth Quade of Branchburg NJ, 6 grandchildren Arthur, Beth, Richard, John, Michael, and Steven and 5 Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother Clarence and a sister Mildred. A Celebration of John’s life will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday January 29 in the United Methodist Church 105 East Washington Ave, Washington NJ. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10-11am) at the church. Burial will follow services at the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton NJ.
