Obituary of Robert Van Ness

Robert Theodore Van Ness, 89, of Washington, NJ passed away on June 5, 2016 in Lopatcong, NJ. Robert was born on December 7, 1926 in Newark, NJ to Edison and Clara (Scheverle) Van Ness. He graduated from Irvivngton High School and enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country during WWII. He was a TV repairman and worked for RTV Television in Washington, NJ. He loved electronics and belonged to Warren County Radio Club N2AF. His sense of humor and wisdom will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Robert is survived by three sons; Steven Van Ness and his wife Subi of Washington, NJ, Robert Van Ness and his wife Denise of East Stroudsburg, PA, and Wayne Van Ness and his wife Barbara of Washington, NJ, and his daughter Terilyn Burns and her husband Michael of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by a sister Molly Young of Livingston, NJ and eight grandchildren Alex, David, Heather, Shannon, Jamie, Brittany, Chad, and Justin. He is also survived by a special friend Terry Dziura. He is preceded in death by his wife Olive Evelyn Hockenbury Van Ness, his son Thomas Raymond, his brother Wallace Edison, and a grandchild Wayne. DeVoe Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
