I was so saddened to hear of Marian's death. I remember our pre-Pine Forge days as well as our times spent together at Pine Forge. Marian and I shared many musical times. Please know that she doesn't have long to sleep for Jesus is coming very soon. I was blessed to know and befriend Marian since her return to New Jersey in the last few years. She was a woman who deeply loved the Lord and the music that glorified Him. I met Sis Beckett at the Spring Hill SDA Church, in Spring Hill, Fl. For a short time she was Minister of Music and what I will always remember is that she loved to share the history or story behind the hymns that we were singing. For me that brought the hymns to life.
Her love for music and for sharing the history of music will never be forgotten. I look forward to singing with her once again in that heavenly choir.

My Dearest Talented and Brilliant Cousin, Marian:
It's hard for me to believe you are gone. Seems like such a short time ago that you, Bettye, and I were strolling towards the Bridge at Camp Meeting, walking to church during the summer, or having a picnic down at the creek with Auntie (your mom), Uncle Godfrey (your dad), and last but of course not least, Buzzy. Those good old days, when we would come to the country to stay with you, Auntie, Uncle Godfrey and Buzzy, for summer vacations, were some of the happiest days of my childhood. Buzzy would preach, you would play piano, and we all would pick berries (straight out of Mayberry). Looking back, it seems to me that you were always such a patient, generous, and welcoming little girl. Can't ever remember you losing your temper or having a tantrum. Such poise and kindness did you possess; and as far as I'm concerned you maintained that fair countenance throughout your life, during good times or not such good times. I think it must have been your faith in God that kept you on such a high and even keel. Over the years, you and I would temporarily be out of contact, sometimes for months on end, but ultimately we would reconnect, and there you would be, the same Marian that I love. There were a couple of times when I needed a big favor from you, and you never hesitated to help me out. Dearest Drunnell (the name I will always remember you by), throughout your days of not feeling well, you were able to keep up such an optimistic, hopeful, and peaceful attitude, that surely, I thought, once again you would bounce back from this latest complication of being ill. Perhaps I was taking your wonderfulness for granted. All I know is that my world is a little less bright without your earthly presence, and the loving spirit of you will remain in my heart forever.
