Obituary of Joseph Coughlan
Joseph Peter Coughlan, 65, of Gilbert, PA, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 in the Mountain City Nursing Home, Hazelton, PA. Joseph was born in Irvington, NJ, a son of the late Joseph A. and the late Virginia (Cook) Coughlan. He grew up in Madison, NJ and went to Madison High School. In the 1960s he worked at Bartley Foundry in Long Valley, NJ and as a Police Officer in Somerville, NJ from 1968-1972. In the 1970s he drove a tractor trailer for Mayflower and North American Moving and Storage. In the 1980s he worked a Simmonds Precision in Chester, NJ and drove a truck for Welsh Farms in Long Valley.
Survivors: Joseph is survived by his wife: Carol (Hughes) Coughlan of Gilbert and two sons; Robert Coughlan of Brodheadsville, PA and Joseph Coughlan and his wife Faith, of High Bridge, NJ; two granddaughters, Jacquelynn and Stephanie Coughlan of High Bridge, NJ; a grandson, John Coughlan of Brodheadsville, PA; three sisters, Virgina, Rosie, Betty and one brother, Michael Coughlan. In addition to his parents, a son, John Wesley died in 1979 and a sister, Peggy died earlier.
Services: Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at 12:00 in Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount, NJ.
