Tributes: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Tribute to Bud Bud Horn was everybody's "bud." He was first Carl's bud. Carl was my little brother and he and Bud were the same age and both went to the Washington school. Bud's oldest brother, Bob, was the same age as my older brother, Mike, and they were friends too. Bud's other brother, Jim, is my age and we were also friends in the same school. So the Carey brothers were friends with all the Horn brothers and I think we all saw a little more of Bud after school days were over, for whatever reason. Even my sister Arleen and her husband Dick came to know Bud and grew fond of him. How could one not? We were all fond of Bud and his quiet and understated sense of humor. I don't know if I ever saw him act angry towards anyone and I certainly have no recall of him ever mistreating or behaving disrespectfully towards another human being. He was a teddy bear kind of guy, big and strong on the outside with a compassionate heart to match on the inside. I don't know how these words will come across being read, but I can't help chuckling when I think of Bud. He could sense when I was taking myself too seriously and had a knack for catching me off guard, and in the same way each time. Whether we were out carousing around with a bunch of friends in a car, or drinking beer at a bar or dining in a restaurant, or amongst a crowd of people during a house party or in a more somber environment of the court house or police station, he would turn to me and silently ask with the straightest face, "Ya wanna wrestle?" I gotta stop, he's done it again when I least expected it and I can't typewrite for laughing. Bud was everyone's "bud". Now he's gone home and we'll all miss him. Richard Carey Class of ‘64, Washington High School -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dearest Terry and family, I am so sorry to learn of Bud's passing. May God give you peace in knowing how much Bud was loved by all who met him. To know Bud was to love Bud. Kind, generous, funny everything good in a person. He will be missed as much as he is loved. We will all be together again one day.
