Obituary of Gradie Frederick

Gradie E. Frederick, Jr., 81, died on December 31, 2007 at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford, NJ. He had resided at Warren Haven for almost 2 years. Prior to that, he resided in Washington, NJ with his daughter, Alice Ouellette, and family. Previously, he resided in Warsaw, NC and in Middlesex, NJ. He was born in Goldsboro, NC, the son of the late Gradie, Sr., and Rebecca Dowdy Frederick. He was a gold seal stationary engineer at General Motors/Delco in New Brunswick, NJ for 17 years and held similar positions at General Mills/Pillsbury and Allen Canning in Turkey, NC. Memberships: Gradie was a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church in Warsaw, NC, as well as a member of the local American Legion. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II in the Atlantic, Pacific, Mediterranean, and Middle East. Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Gonsowski Frederick, of Cedar Knolls, NJ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gradie Frederick III, and his wife, Renee, of North Plainfield, NJ; his daughter, Alice Ouellette, and her husband, G. William, of Washington, NJ; his daughter, Rebecca Frederick Oberuc, and her husband, Richard, of Randolph, NJ; his daughter, Nancy Frederick, of Cedar Knolls, NJ; five grandchildren (Grady, John, Andrew, Alexander, and Benjamin); and numerous nieces and nephews. His two brothers, Bolton and David, and two sisters, Esther and Ruth, preceded him in death. Services: Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ Interment will follow in Warsaw, NC under the direction of Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC.
