Obituary of Alvin Carl Ratzman

Alvin "Buzz" Ratzman, 74, of Belvidere, NJ passed away on May 1, 2016 at St. Luke's Warren Hospital. Alvin was born August 8, 1941 in Elizabeth, NJ to Rueben and Helen (Gorman) Ratzman. He graduated from Lakemont Academy in 1960 and attended Rutgers University for 2 years. He was an active member of the US Army National Guard from 1964-1970 and was on the front lines of the Newark riots in 1967. He went on to become a real estate broker and worked for Gorman Agency in Union, NJ. Alvin was a director of the NJ Realtor's Association for 2 years. He was also a member of Delaware Presbyterian Church, Knowlton Seniors Club, Warren County Chamber of Commerce, (former member) Knowlton Lions Club, and (current member) Belvidere Lions Club. He loved fishing and ran the Warren County Shad Tournament. He enjoyed volunteering and did so at such places as the Leonardo Camp Happiness Camp for the Blind and at Hackettstown Hospital. Alvin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Ann (Sonnenberg) Ratzman. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ratzman and his wife Allison of Lawrenceville, NJ and Gregory Ratzman and his wife Mary Kay of Washington Twp., PA; a daughter, Pamela Ratzman of Easton, PA; a brother Edward Ratzman of Florida, and four grandchildren Kinsey, Alexander, Brianna, and Hannah. A memorial service will be held on May 6, 2016 at 10am at DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
