Obituary of Floyd Stecker
Floyd " Steve" Stecker began his journey to join his son Dirk on August 10th, 2012 at St Lukes Hospital, Warren Campus, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Steve was born May 8, 1937 in Washington, NJ to Floyd James and Mildred Geary Stecker.
He and is wife Alice Creveling Stecker celebrated 44 years of marriage on May 18, 2012. Steve retired from the State of New Jersey in 1999 where he worked as a Non Automotive Mechanic at Hunterdon Developmental Center. Having the "gift of gab" and a wonderful sence of humor he had many friends and was always good for a chat and a good laugh. Steve enjoyed sitting in his rocking chair smoking his pipe with a cup of coffee nearby. He enjoyed football especially the Jets and the Redskins. He liked watching the car auction on T.V., reading and his yearly trips to Maine where he would sit by the water and watch the seals, dolphins and boats. He loved his cat Sophie who was always begging for treats. His greatest pleasure were his sons Brent and Dirk and his granddaughter, Gina Marie.
He is survived by his loving wife Alice, a son, Brent of Phillipsburg, daughter in law, Lynn Stecker of Nazareth PA, The "Love of his Life" granddaughter, Gina Marie Stecker, his brother Andy of Belvidere, NJ, a niece and many nephews. He was known as Dad and PopPop to many young friends.He was preddeceased in death by his son Dirk Stephen. If you love somebody enough you can still here the laughter after they're gone.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave.,Washington, NJ 07882.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Franklin Twp Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 224 Broadway, NJ or the Franklin Twp. Fire Company, P.O. Box 43 Broadway, NJ 08808.
