Obituary of Alfred Ivany
Alfred Ivany, Jr., age 84, of Montague, NJ formerly of Franklin Lakes NJ, passed away peacefully early Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Newton Hospital of Newton, NJ. Mr. Ivany was born May 21, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Alfred and the late Amy (Cooper) Ivany. He was happily married to Jan Ivany.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he returned home to eventually manage his own home improvement business. Later he was employed by several towns in Sussex County, NJ over the years as a construction official. Alfred was of the Methodist Faith.
Alfred was actively involved with Boy Scouting for many years, and was a former Scoutmaster for Troop 34 in Franklin Lakes, NJ. He was also an exempt member of the Allendale Fire Department in Allendale NJ
He is survived by his wife: Jan (Spicer) Ivany, one son: Alfred Ivany III of Washington Township NJ; a stepson Dave; three sisters: Geraldine, Sally and Isabel and one brother: Richard; granddaughter, Kate; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Jack.
Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
