Obituary of Edward Pohl
Edward L. Pohl, age 86, a lifetime resident of Oxford died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Care Center of Brakeley Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ.
Edward was born December 12, 1922 in Oxford, NJ a son of the late Theodore ""Dory"" and the late Deanne (Potts) Pohl. He was the husband of the late Mary (Hummer) Pohl who predeceased him in 1983.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a Left Waist Gunner on B17s and B 29s. He was employed by IMCO as a Maintenance Mechanic for over 30 years.
Edward was a member of various organizations which included, the American Legion - Belvidere Post 131; the Mansfield Lodge # 36 F & AM, Washington NJ and a charter member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Colonial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Edward is survived by a daughter, Linda Turner and her husband Hayden (TJ) of Middletown, CT; six sons, Terry L. and his wife Cheryl of Brass Castle section of Washington Township, NJ, Richard and his wife Chris of Belvidere, NJ, Bruce and his wife Chris of Cooperstown, NY, Lynn and his wife Nancy of Washington, NJ, Doug of Belvidere, NJ, and Jim and his wife Lorri of Rice, VA; a sister, Kathryn Melberger of Oxford, NJ; ten grandchildren, Scott, Brian, Tim, Dan, Richie, Andrew, and Phil Pohl, Kristen Pohl-Munro and James and Douglas Turner; four great grandchildren, Jordyn, Allie, and Olivia Pohl and Maya Munro.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, October 19, 2009 at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. Burial will immediately follow in Hillside Cemetery, Oxford.
Calling hours will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
