Obituary of John Edward McGrory

Obituary for John Edward McGrory 1953-2016 John “Johnny” was born on February 9th, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York to John A. and Anne M. McGrory. He died peacefully in his sleep on December 4th, 2016. Born into a Navy family, John and his parents moved to North Carolina and then to New Jersey, where his parents expanded their family to include 5 more children. John was always referred to as their #1 son. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. John attended New Jersey schools and graduated in 1971 from North Hunterdon Regional High School. He worked for Preferred Plastics for 26 years as a service technician up until his untimely death. John was a very private person, but shared his love of World War II history and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. He also loved his classic rock and treasured his extensive collection of LP albums. Family gatherings frequently included John’s contribution of the “hazelnut Cream Cake” that he would purchase from the Raritan Bakery. John was preceded in death by his sister Mary Gordon and his father, John. He is survived by his mother Anne, sisters Peggy McGrory, Susan Taylor and her husband Harvey, and Monica McGrath (husband Jack) nephew Ryan Taylor, and niece Cyndi Hope, all from California, Brother Tom (wife Karyn), nieces Emilie and Sarah McGrory from New Jersey.
