My Grandpa passed away in November 2001 and that Thanksgiving would have been my first one without him. I remember Willie called and stopped by to check on me almost every day because my Grandpa was my heart and I was his. To make a long story short, he invited me to spend the holiday with his family at his sister, Mari's house.
Of course, I said no because, I'm a very private person. Always willing to help others but never willing to accept the help. Once his family heard of my reluctance, they gave me a stern talking to and I got ready to go in a day or two. The day finally came. So, Willie and I jumped in his black Mustang 5.0 and drove up 22 to Easton at speeds beyond the posted signs and had an enjoyable dinner and a great time with family.
To this day, I was glad that Willie had such a good heart and made me go to where I needed to be. That was a place filled love, a place where people had good hearts and good intentions.

God has welcomed a truly beautiful person into His gates and eternal home. Willie and I grew up together in Anderson, loved each like family and shared so many memories over the past 20+ years. It is rare nowadays to have a true friend and I was so very blessed to have had such an awesome person in my life who welcomed me into his family and whose family allowed me to be a part their lives. I grew up in Washington and knew Willie while I was there. I haven't lived there for several years, but saw Willie a couple of years ago while I was there visiting my family. He recognized me right away. I still remember his big smile and the warm hug he gave me. He was alway fun to be around when we were growing up. I know he will be truly missed by everyone one he knew.
