Obituary of Daniel Gardner
Daniel H. Gardner, 68, of Washington NJ died Monday, March 12th at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
He was born in Phillipsburg NJ, January 1, 1944. He was the son of the late Daniel C. Gardner and his wife, Beatrice V. Opdyke.
He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. Washington NJ.
Danny entered law enforcement with the Washington Police Department and worked for the Mansfield Township Police Department as a patrolman before joining the Warren County Prosecutors Office in Belvidere, NJ as an investigator in 1975. He retired as Chief of Dectectives in 1999, then served as Prosecutor's Agent until 2004. He and his wife Jane owned Employer Consultancy, Inc. in Flemington, NJ for 15 years before retiring in December 2011.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed playing golf and attending many of his grandchildrens' athletic games. Dan was a member of NJ State Chiefs of Police, the Warren County PBA and NJ POMA, He was an exempt member of the Washington Fire Department, Company # 2 and the Washington Emergency Squad. He was a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church, Washington, NJ.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Jane Roberts Gardner. His 5 children are Michael Gardner, and his wife Nancy, Dan Gardner and his wife Linda, who reside in Hackettstown NJ, John Donovan, and his wife BJ, and Jeff Donovan of Washington NJ . His daughter, Kathy Lovering and her husband Rod reside in Milford, NJ. He had 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday and Friday evenings from 6-8 PM in the DeVoe Funeral Home, 136 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 40 East Church Street Washington NJ. Cremation to follow in the HG Smith Crematory Stroudsburg PA.
