Obituary of Doris Parr

Doris M. Parr, 89, of Washington, NJ passed away on May 12, 2016. She was born on February 25, 1927 in Bloomsbury, NJ to Howard and Grace (Rush) Hoffman. Doris was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School. She was married to the late Carl Parr and was a homemaker. At one time she was employed at Oxford Tool Co., Oxford, NJ. Later she volunteered in the activities Dept at Warren Haven Nursing Home where she helped to organize the Crochet and Friendship Club. She also help set up Bingo for residents and helped with the unit picnics and many other activities. Doris was a member of the RSVP program and the Health Link Stitch and Chat Club. Earlier in life she watched several pre-school children for working parents. She loved to crochet and do her own home canning. She was of the Methodist Faith and helped with many of the Port Colden United Methodist Church events. Doris is survived by three sons Larry, Gary and his wife "Chick", and Roger and his wife Richshel, a daughter Elaine and her husband Vernon Mann, and grandchildren Katie, Maci, and Kevin which she loved dearly. Also she was survived by her dog Shelly. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl Parr on Dec 25, 1998 and her loving son John. DeVoe Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements and there will be a graveside service at Muscanetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton, NJ on May 24, 2016 at 10am.
