Obituary of Bertha Wyckoff
Bertha H. Wyckoff, 86, of Port Murray, NJ passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at home.
Bertha was born September 17, 1926 in Broadway, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Alice and Charles Fletcher Bodine.
She was the loving and devoted wife of Carl V. Wyckoff for 46 years until his passing on their wedding anniversary on August 12, 2002. Bertha was a 1945 graduate of Hampton High School and was active in the Alumni Association. After graduation, she worked at the Washington Hosiery, and later in years she worked for the Mansfield Township Elementary School. She worked for the Warren County Board of Elections at Mansfield for forty years until 2010.
Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who loved living life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. With her husband they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe as well as their annual trips to Florida in the spring. She spent endless hours watching the New York Yankees, gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing.
She was a dedicated and active member of the Anderson United Methodist Church. She served on the Administrative Board at the church, was an officer for the United Methodist Women, and participated in the Anderson Quilters Group. Earlier in life she was a member of the Anderson Mothers' Club.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Linda A. Stecker and her husband Howard of Lower Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania and Nancy C. Holbrook and her companion, Ronald Wilson of Great Meadows, NJ; three grandchildren, Gregory Stecker of Arlington, VA, Trisha Stecker of Hoboken, NJ, and Ryan Holbrook of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Betty Hazen and her husband Phil of Hackettstown, NJ and Anna May of Belvidere, NJ; a brother-in-law John Wyckoff and his wife Peg of Hanover, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Monday, October 22, 4-8PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ. An additional viewing hour Tuesday morning from 10-11am in the Anderson United Methodist Church, Rte 57 Port Murray NJ, followed by a funeral service at 11am. Interment to follow at the Union Cemetery Hackettstown NJ
