Obituary of Helen Russo

Helen M. Russo 91 died in Warren Hospital on August 7th. She had been a resident of the Care Center of Phillipsburg for the past 3 years. She was born in Flagtown, NJ May 14, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Beulah Hendershot.. Mrs. Russo had been a Nurses Aide for the T.B. Hospital in Glen Gardner NJ and remained there after it changed to Mt Kipp Geriatric Hospital. Before retiring she had also worked for the Hunterdon Developmental Center. Before residing in Phillipsburg, Helen lived in Washington NJ for 7 years and High Bridge NJ for 44 years. She loved her Grandchildren. She enjoyed Country music especially Don Williams. Her loved of TV actors especially John Wayne, Charles Bronson and Raymond Burr. She enjoyed old Oriental Movies that had subtitles. Yellow Roses and Blue birds brightened her day. Her Husband Louis L. Russo Jr preceded her in death in 1961. Surviving are a son Louis Jr of High Bridge, two daughters Shirley Danielson of Washington NJ and Marie Russo in Florida., a brother Eugene Hendershot of Broadway, two sisters Syvlia Willis of Glen Gardner and Ruth Evens of Bangor Pa. and many grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband, she is predeceased by A son Raymond, 3 brothers Ben (Mike), John and Harry, 4 sisters Dorothy, Eleanor, Ann, and Virginia, 1 great grandchild and 4 great-great grandchildren and a nephew Joe Willis whom she raised as a son. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ The Visitation will be on Monday from 3 to7 PM in the funeral home.
