Obituary of Anna Stecker

Anna N. Stecker, 97, of New Village, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 27, 2014 surrounded by family. Anna was born October 7, 1916 in New Village, NJ; she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Maria (Bruno) Tedesco. She was the loving wife of Howard P. Stecker, Sr. for 43 years until his passing on November 11, 1996. Anna resided her entire life in New Village. She attended New Village School. In her earlier years, she was employed by Pohatcong Hosiery Mill in Washington, NJ and Sanco in Phillipsburg, NJ. Following her marriage, she was a devoted homemaker. Anna was a member of the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church. Anna was a devoted daughter who took care of her parents earlier in life. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and neighbor, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and touched everyone's heart. She was the matriarch of the family who defined honesty and integrity, was quick-witted, compassionate, and an amazing Italian cook. She is survived by a son Howard Stecker, Jr. and his wife Linda of Lower Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania and daughter Jean Stecker and her husband Richard Paine of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; four grandchildren, Thomas Bruno, III of Easton, PA, Michelle Bruno of Nazareth, PA, Gregory Stecker of Arlington, VA and Trisha Stecker of Golden, Colorado; three great-grandchildren Andrew and Cole Warren and Evan Christian; brother Michael Tedesco and his wife Arlene of Ramsey, NJ and Benjamin Tedesco and his wife Ann of Atlanta, GA and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Anna was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Tedesco and two sisters, Christina Bracco and Grace Maloney. Visitation on Wednesday, April 30, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. An additional viewing hour will be on Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. in the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church, 550 North Main Street, Stewartsville, NJ, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Stewartsville Lutheran Cemetery.
