Obituary of Patricia Foster

Patricia Foster, 78, of Brant Beach, NJ, formerly of Holland Twp, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in her son's home in Bethlehem Twp, NJ. Born: Born in Allentown, PA, Patricia was the daughter of the late Anna (Marhon) and Michael Yurconic. Personal: Her husband of 52 years, Albert L. Foster, passed away in 2010. Pat graduated from Allentown H.S. in 1953 and earned a B.A. in elementary education from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1957. She taught first grade for one year in 1958 at Frenchtown Elementary School and then proceeded to raise her family. S he resumed teaching in 1972 at Alpha Public School. She taught first grade there for 27 years and retired in 1997. She loved her profession and adored her students. Many a parent requested their child be taught by Mrs. Foster. Her summer breaks were spent on Long Beach Island with her husband, "The Man", and their children. There they owned and operated Foster's Farm Market. After retiring, they moved to LBI and many family members, friends and former students were hosted by the Fosters. Affectionately known as "The Woman", Pat loved her family, friends, a good dinner out and a glass of wine. Survivors: Her daughter, Cathi A. Buzzard of North Wales, PA; Sonja L. Foster-Storch and her partner, Dara, of Newtown, PA; Joanne M. Sime and her husband, Karl, of Mason, MI; her son Albert L. Foster, II and his wife, Barbara, of Bethlehem Twp, NJ; her sister Dolores Benner and her husband, Robert, of Allentown, PA; her brother Michael Yurconic, Jr. and his wife, Annie, of Portland, OR; and her beloved grandchildren: Bryanne, Ethan, Evan, Michael, Hailey, Joshua, Chloe, Emma, Sedona and Jakob. Services: A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place in the Spring at her home on Long Beach Island. Further details will be posted at www.devoefuneral.com. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Memory of Pat to the Alpha Education Association Scholarship Fund; Alpha Public School, 817 North Blvd, Alpha, NJ 08865.
