Otis Manley

Obituary of Otis Manley

Otis Devon Manley Jr., son of the late Otis Sr. and Ethel Manley was born on June 22, 1930 in Durham, North Carolina: and departed this life at age 80 at Lyons VA Medical Center in Bernardsville, New Jersey on Monday, January 17th 2011. At an early age, the love of Christ was instilled in him. As devout Adventist his mother made sure, he had an Adventist education. He attended Adventist schools. He enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Ingersoll Rand as an accountant. He was very committed to serving the Lord in many different ways. He was instrumental in starting the Beacon of Hope SDA church in Easton, PA and labored long and hard with it until his health no longer permitted him too. To help save souls. He enjoyed listening to classical music and loved electronics, he was an avid chess player, and he enjoyed model airplanes. He was a self-taught man, literally a jack of ALL trades and master of many. He was a pillar in this community, scholar and a gentleman. He would not hesitate to heed to any call for help, whether it was a ride to the airport or a broken furnace or pipe. Brother Manley, as he was lovingly known as, labored many hours in the Hillcrest Sanctuary, as we know it today. The sound system, electrical, sheetrock you name it he did it. Not only the church but scarcely a life in this community has not been touched in the community. He fixed our cars, furnace, plumbing, doors, window and so much more. He has touched everyone of our lives in one way or another which will never be forgotten. May the work he's done, speak for him.
