Obituary of Edward Case
Edward G. Case 79 of Washington NJ died Wednesday April 7 2010 in the Barn Hill Nursing Home, Newton NJ.
He was born in Easton PA, May 16, 1930. He was the son of the late Eyrus and Pauline Houston Case.
Ed was a retired Machinist from the Ingersoll Rand Company in Phillipsburg NJ; He was last employed in the Maintenance Department at Warren Haven, Oxford NJ.
Ed served in the United States Navy for 6 years. Ed ended his career as an Eng 3rd Class on two destroyers, USS Forest Royal and USS Samuel B. Roberts. When leaving the Navy he joined VFW post #6701 of Washington NJ and the American Legion Post #456 of Stewartsville. Ed was extremely active in the VFW. He held the following positions, Commander and Vice Commander. At the District level he held the following positions Commander and Quartermaster. More recently he was the chairman of the Patriotic Pin for District 20. Ed placed many happy faces on our young Americans
He was a member of St Lukes Lutheran Church in Washington NJ for almost 50 years.
He along with other seniors volunteered at the Brass Castle School in Washington where they would tell the different grades about there life. The students would then write a book on that person. Ed had 11 books written about him.
He was a member the Mansfield Twp Seniors group and a former member the Mansfield Lodge F & AM #36.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years the former Shirley Rodgers Case, two daughters Kathi Lewis of Corpus Christi Texas, and Barbara Case of Hackettstown NJ, a brother Richard Case of Newport News VA, grandchildren Tara, Heather, Leigh and Karen and great grandchildren Addison, Hayden and Peyton.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ 07882. Funeral Services will be Monday at 1PM in St Lukes Lutheran Church Rte 31 north Washington NJ.
