Obituary of Richard P Smith Sr.

Richard P. Smith, Sr., age 84, of Washington, NJ, formerly of New Hampton, NJ, passed away peacefully December 21, 2016 at home. Mr. Smith was born April 1, 1932 in Easton, PA. He is the son of the late Edward H. Smith and Helen (Gerber) Smith. He was a heavy equipment operator at Smith Excavating, prior to retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and auto racing. Richard is survived by his wife, Joan (Howell) Smith, daughters Joan Gay and Patricia Chapman and her husband Mark, and son Richard P. Smith, Jr. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Richard Smith, Brian Smith, Janna Gay and husband Pat Kays, George Gay and wife Megan, Kaitlin Gay and Jeremy Schweitzer, and Dominique Chapman. He had seven great-grandchildren; Richie, Brian, McKayla, Elliott, Cora, Milo, and Leah. He is also survived by a brother Russell Smith of Bethlehem, PA. Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, PA. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVoe Funeral Service.
