Obituary of Reinhold Glessman

Reinhold "Bud" G. Glessman 90, of Hackettstown, N.J., formerly of Belvidere, NJ, Bangor, PA, and Washington ,N.J. died Monday, February 21st, 2011, in Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. He was born in Clifton, N.J. on June 22, 1920. He was the son of the late Reinhold and Mary Toeroek Glessman. Bud owned and operated the Washington House Inn of Washington, N.J. for 25 years before retiring in 1987. Before moving to Washington, he owned a Gas Station in Clifton NJ for 24 years. A 1938 graduate of Clifton High School, he served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Bud was a member of the Lessing-Passaic Lodge # 67 F & AM in Rutherford, N.J. , serving as Worshipful Master and then, Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Bud was also a member of the Shriners. As a President of the Warren County Tavern Association, he was very proud to have the first female recipient of their scholarship. He was President of the House of Good Shepard Residents Council, an avid hunter, and during the depression, he raised pigeons and squab to raise money for the family. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Theresia Klepeis Glessman, three daughters; Charlene Cooper and her husband Jack of Bangor, PA., Karen Sherman and her husband Kenneth of New City, N.Y. and Jerilyn Maxwell of Changewater, N.J. He leaves a brother, Richard Glessman and his wife Ann of Asbury NJ, a sister Jewel Alpaugh of Allentown, PA. , 7 grandchildren; Christopher Cooper, Timothy Cooper, Katie Smith, Jacqueline Kessler, Tara Bernzweig, Daniel Sherman and Alexander Maxwell, 4 Great Grandchildren; Jordyn Kessler, Carter Kessler, Emyrson Smith and Rayah Bernzweig. A sister Christine Hendershot preceded him in death. Visitation will be Saturday Febraury 26th from 1-3 and 6-7 PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ 07882. Masonic Services will be Saturday at 7 PM.. Funeral Services will follow at 7:30 in the funeral home.
