Obituary of Erwin Kober

Erwin Kober, 86 of White Township, NJ passed away on April 14, 2011 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg,NJ. Erwin was born on October 7, 1924 in Illertissen, Germany. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Josefine (nee Schwegler) Kober and Step-mother; Anna (Bizer) Kober. Erwin was married to Edna (Bloom) Kober, with whom they celebrated 53 years on November 23, 2010. Erwin was a member of the United States Army in the 41st Infantry Division, serving in World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Arrowhead Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbion with Star, World War II Victory Medal, and most recently he received the Warren County Distinguished Military Service Medal during a ceremony on October 16, 2004. Erwin was a charter member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Washington, NJ and was on the property committee. He worked for American Can Company serving as a mechanical maintenance man. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years; Edna Kober.He is survived by three sons; Edward and wife Ruth Kober of Easton, PA, Alan and wife Margaret Kober of Lower Mt. Bethel, PA, and William and wife Patricia Kober of Phillipsburg,a sister; Elenore (Kober) Hendershot of Great Meadows, NJ, 5 grandchildren; Ashley Kober, Nathaniel Kober, Anthony Biondo, Christopher Kober, and Kevin Smith, and several nieces and nephwes. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. 136 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ from 3-4 p.m. followed by a service at 4:00 p.m.. Interment will follow service and be held at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton, NJ. Donations in Erwin’s memory may be sent to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 214 State Route 31 N Washington, NJ 07882-1550.
