Sending you my condolensces on Walter's passing....it was a pleasure giving him his morning paper...he would always hand me back the coupons and "other junk" in it...lol....Walter had a faith and strength that was wonderful as well as a great singing voice....may God rest his soul and comfort you with your memories. Even though Rachael and I never knew Walt, we've had the pleasure of getting to know some of his family through his granddaughter, Lisa Kerr. We were so honored to have the opportunity to learn about just a snippet of his life by having the chance to review some of his WWII records and assist the family in rendering honors for this true American hero. Please accept our deepest sympathy and extend our sincerest condolences to your family as you celebrate the life of a man who is no doubt, part of America's Greatest Generation. I am so very saddened by the news of Walt's passing. Whenever I'd stop by the Chelsea to play some songs with my guitar for the residents, he was always there......listening, clapping and supporting my efforts. When I was finished, he'd come over, shake my hand, and we'd have a nice little conversation about music or most recently, the resurgence of the Yankees. What a kind and wonderful man. Playing at the Chelsea will never again be quite the same for me. Though he won't be there in person, I'll find comfort in knowing that Walt will always be there in spirit. My sincerest condolences to his entire family. God bless Walter Drechsel and may you rest in eternal peace. I'll miss you, my friend.
