Obituary of JP Vaskorlis

John Phillip VasKorlis, 77 of Washington NJ died on Tuesday March 19, 2019 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Twp NJ.

 

He was born, in Wilkes Barre PA, on November 30, 1941. He was the son of the late Leo James and Mary Redington VasKorlis.

 

John, was a graduate of Kings College, in Wilkes Barre PA. He taught English, Latin and History at High Bridge School and was the drama coach.  John worked as a national account manager for AT&T  and went on to own and operate his own franchise of Money Mailer. 

John was a Holistic Healing Practioner of Seimei. He traveled to Japan nine times to hone his skills in this field. He was of the Buddhist faith and was a natural healer who wanted to help to alleviate pain in others. Seimei was his healer and passion. 

 

John loved sailing, vacationing at the beach and flying kites with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing chess and reading. He loved spending time with his family, and was always ready to share a "bad" joke with his dry sense of humor. He adored his furry kids, Jack and Shadow, who kept him company and entertained.  He loved chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin pies, often staging contests so he could have lots to taste. John also enjoyed his bourbon Old Fashion cocktail made with water instead of club soda. 

Surviving is his wife of 54 years Nancy Nekrasz VasKorlis, a daughter, Shawna Manfredi of Washington NJ, a brother, Leo James of Meshoppen PA, a sister Miriam (Samuel) Cooper of St Augustine Fl. He was Poppy  to three grandchildren Reese Manfredi,  Shannon  

 and Emily VasKorlis. Proud grandfather to Jack Kennedy (Marisa) and Caitlin Phillipsheck (Brian). He is also survived by four nieces and nephews Judy VasKorlis, Jim 

(Mary Jo) Vaskorlis, Jeffrey (Iwona) Nekrasz Christopher Nekrasz (Denise) , great nephews Kasper, Mathew and Andrew, and a long time family friend Elizabeth Collins. John was predeceased, by his son, Seth (Emy). 

 

Per John's request, A Celebration of Life service, will take place at a later date. 

 

The DeVoe Funeral Service, Washington NJ has been entrusted with his arrangements.
