Dolores (Lorrie) Marie Julian Smith Glen Gardner, NJ Dolores Smith of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away May 18, 2015 at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, PA. She was born on October 2, 1931 in Phillipsburg, NJ to Jack and Grace (Apgar) Julian. Lorrie was retired from Bell Telephone/ Verizon in 1990 after 37 years of service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon for many years. Lorrie was a member or the Verizon Pioneers HG McCully Upstate Chapter #12 since 1975. As a member of the Warren Life Member Club, she held the positions of secretary, Member-at-Large, Fellowship &amp; Community Service Chairs, and twice served as Club President. As a breast cancer survivor she initiated the &quot;Lorrie Smith Pillow Pal Project&quot;, where pillows were made and donated to the American Cancer Society.Lorrie was very active in the Club Bookmark Project, making over 500 bookmarks which were donated to local libraries. Other club projects she was involved in were the Hug-a-Bear and Smart Bears, the annual picnic, Lopatcong Care Center Project, Playground USA Map Project, and the Backpack Project. Lorrie was awarded the Life Member's Club &quot;Pioneer of the Year&quot; award twice. She was given certificates of appreciation from the American Cancer Society. In 2011, she was elected to the Hackettstown Senior Hall of Fame for her volunteering. On November 3, 2012, Lorrie was inducted into Verizon-Frontier-Fair-Point-Telecordia Hall of Fame in Washington, DC.Lorrie was also a member of the Red Hat Society's &quot;Ruby's Scarlet O'Hatters&quot; Chapter. Lorrie is survived by brothers John (Jack) Julian and wife Nancy and Jerrold and his wife Janey, sisters Rae Reff and Sylvia (Sibby) Rush, son Jeffrey Smith &amp; his wife Regina of Mansfield, TX, daughters Alison Duryea &amp; her husband Dennis of Glen Gardner, NJ, Gerri Matey of Bangor, PA, and Lori Arcury of Nazareth, PA. She is also survived by grandchildren Kimberly Reis, Matthew Duryea, Kelly Sturm, Rebecca Kemmerer, Jennifer Schuller, Sara Laubach, Jerrod Smith, Kyle Smith, Brice Clements, Gregory Duryea, Stephanie Egerer, Lindsey Duryea Jackson &amp; Mackenzie Arcury and great grandchildren Cole, Andrea, Kyleigh, Emily, Emma, Kellen, Tyler, Ivan, Darren, Brody, Caroline, Mileigh, Ryleigh, Cooper, Katie, Johanna, Colton &amp; Ava. She is predeceased by her husband John Walter Smith, a sister Joyce Julian Opdyke, a step-brother Jack Cooper, and a granddaughter Michael-Ann Arcury. A viewing will be held on Friday May 22 from 10am - 11:30 am with funeral services to follow at 11:30am at the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882.
