Obituary of Russell Sperling
Russell H. Sperling, 74, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, died Tuesday at home surrounded by family. Russell was born on March 25, 1934 in Ringoes, NJ, the son of the late Russell and the late Dorothy (Ficke) Sperling. He proudly served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars in the Air Force, and stayed in the service for twenty years, retiring in 1972, as a Technical Sergeant. He received numerous distinguished medals for his service in the military. He was employed by Agway Petroleum, Washington, NJ. as a Service Technician.
Memberships:Mr. Sperling was a former member of American Legion Post #131, Belvidere, NJ, later joining Post #0528 of White Township, and a member of VFW Post #10259. Russell was known for his hearty, from the stomach, laugh. Survivors:Russell is survived by his wife: Ruth (Black) Sperling, one daughter: Constance Manailovich and her husband John of Broadway, NJ; four sons: John Sperling and his companion Tina of Washington, NJ; Allen Sperling and his wife Diana of White Township, NJ; Leonard Sperling and his wife Cindy of Virginia Beach, VA, Randy Sperling and his companion Kathy of Alexandria Twp, NJ: a stepson, Michael Molinari and his companion Trudy of Harmony Twp, NJ; a stepdaughter, Bonnie LaBarre and her husband Rex of Harmony Twp, NJ: twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a cousin, John A. Timmins. Russell is predeceased by his first wife, Wonnetah (Cox) Sperling.
Services: Friends may call Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A funeral service will be held Friday at 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
