Obituary of Calvin Smith
Calvin Smith, 86 of Oxford, NJ, died Sunday in St. Luke's Hospital, PA. Calvin was born on February 2, 1922 in Asbury, NJ, the son of the late James and the late Lulu (Schmitt) Smith. He proudly served during World War II in the Army. Calvin was a member of the Laborers Union since 1967 and employed by the AFLCIO #1174 of Allentown, PA.
Survivors:Calvin is survived by his wife: Doris (Haggerty) Smith, three daughters: JoAnn Preen of Dalton, MA, LuLu Vernon of Stroudsburg, PA, Ruth Kober of Easton, PA Susan Smith of North Adams, MA and three sons: Raymond Smith of Huntingdon, PA, James Smith of Pasadena, TX, and Charles Smith of Oxford, NJ; a sister, Ruth Rhodes of Cape Coral, FL; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son Calvin Charles Smith, Jr. in 1952, two grandchildren, a sister, Margaret Kluse, a brother, Russell Smith, and two step brothers, Oscar and Walter Johnson.
Services: Friends may call Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 Interment of the cremains will be Saturday at 11:00 am in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton.
