Obituary of Robert Mayer

Robert G. Mayer 87, of Washington NJ, died April 7, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Marie T. Mayer Mr. Mayer was born November 17, 1920. He was the son of the late George and Lauretta Higgins Mayer. He lived in Elizabeth NJ until 1951 when he moved to Washington NJ He retired from the United Jersey Bank, Northwest, in 1983 as Treasurer/Comptroller and had been employed by Warren Hills regional Board of Education, Bowerstown Road Washington NJ part-time as Treasurer of School monies until June 30, 2003. During World War 2, Mr. Mayer served for over three years in the United States Coast Guard, being discharged honorably in April 1946 as a Storekeeper in the Payroll Department of the U.S.S. General W.P. Richardson, a troop transport. He was also active during his life time in the Washington Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Chamber of Commerce, various banking Organizations, and for many years was very Active at St Joseph's Church in Washington. He graduated from Rutgers University College in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree Business Administration. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at St Joseph's R.C. Church 200 West Carlton Ave, Washington, with Monsignor John Auchter, and Father Blaise Baran Co-officiating. Interment will follow in St Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday morning in the DeVoe Funeral Services, Inc. 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ.
