Obituary of Edith Sloane
Edith Sloane, age 83, of Oxford, NJ, beloved mother, died Staurday, August 21, 2010 at Warren Haven Nursing Home.
Edith was born Sept 26, 1926 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Julius and Julia (Weber) Staiger. She grew up in the Pelham section of the Bronx. She graduated from Packard Secretarial School in NY and worked for Beemis Bag Co. Over the years, she lived in NJ, MN, CT and MA. She resided over thirty years in Wayland, MA as a homemaker, raising her daughter and providing care to her mother. She was very active in the community. She was very compassionate about conservation and protecting animal rights. She enjoyed her many pets, gardening, attending auctions, the arts, the seashore and always read the NY Times.
She is survived by her only daughter, Lizabeth Sloane Eggemann, and son in-law, Danny Eggemann of Whitehouse Station, NJ; one brother, Alfred Staiger of Long Island, NY and two grandchildren, Danny and Ashley.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother, Edward Staiger. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVoe Funeral Services, Inc., 136 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Interment, alongside her mother, at the Fern Cliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY will follow a private cremation.
