Obituary of Jane Handlos

Jane L. Handlos, 78 of Washington, NJ passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Jane was born on July 29, 1933 in Kingston, PA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sr. and Beatrice (nee Higgins) Keener. Jane was a dedicated member of the Port Colden United Methodist Chuch, Washington, NJ. She was the past president of the Port Colden United Methodist Women's Society, past parshionist Treasurer, and was a member of the church counsel. She was also a member of the Young at Hearts Club of Oxford, NJ. She worked at the food pantry for the First Presbyterian Church, Washington, NJ. Previously, Jane worked for American Can, Bates, Pyronics, and Lackawanna Leather. She is predeceased by her loving husband John Handlos Sr. in 1995. She is survived by a son; John Jr. and wife Patricia of Washington, NJ, a daughter; Debra DeVoe of Cherry Hill, NJ, brothers; Paul and wife Eleanor Keener of Pringle, PA and Harold " Red" and wife Paula Keener of Luzerne, PA, sister-in-law; Louise King of Dallas, TX, three grandchildren; Margaret Jane Miller, George Richard Miller, and Harry Edward Miller. She is predeceased by a brother; George Keener, and two sisters; Lois Lauer and Mary Keener. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 7:00 p.m..-9:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton, NJ. In Jane's memory, donations may be made to The Port Colden United Methodist Church, Port Colden Road, Washington, NJ 07882.
