Obituary William J. Ward, Sr.

William J. Ward, 76, of Washington Twp. (Warren County), departed this life on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ. As a teenager, he apprenticed in the printing-press room of the The Newark Evening News. He spent his career printing newspapers, mainly for The Star-Ledger, first in Newark, then in Piscataway. He retired in 2009. He moved to Warren County in 1976 with the love of his life, Penny, and lived in a house on a bank of the Musconetcong River. Besides Penny, he is survived by his two sons, William Jr. (also known as “BJ”) and Michael, his daughter-in-law, Laurie Granieri, his brother John, and his grandson, Dylan, whom he considered one of the great joys of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine, his brother Bobby, and his sister Carol. A memorial-repast will take place Sunday, September 8, at VFW Post 5119, 179 Main St., Glen Gardner, NJ, from 2 to 5 p.m.
