Obituary of Raymond DiRisio

Raymond DiRisio, Jr. , 85 passed away peacefully srrounded by family at home in Washington, NJ on the evening of Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was born in Paterson on October 19, 1925. “Ray” moved to Warren County in 1938 with his parents, the Latwe Raymond, Sr. and Rose Severino DiRisio, where the family established Piney Ridge Farm. Ray was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School. Ray met his loving wife Irma Gagliardo when she visited Piney Ridge in 1951; they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past May. In addition to tending to the family farm, Ray was a small businessman. In 1963, he opened Warren County Liquors in downtown Washington and in 1966, he moved the business to the outskirts of town on Route 57 where he remained the owner and manager for 31 successful years. In 1975, he also established Warren County Motors in Washington. Ray was a trustee and sat on the advisory council of Town & Country Bank beginning in 1985. In addition to his beloved wife, Irma, Ray is survived by two sons; Raymond D. DiRisio, III and his wife Sue DiRisio and Thomas DiRisio, all of Washington. Ray was the proud grandfather (“Pop”) of Raymond “ Daniel” DiRisio IV and his wife Heather DiRisio, Dana DiRisio-Coates and her husband Chris Coates, and Marissa DiRisio. Ray was the great- grandfather of Camryn Raye Coates. Ray is also survived by his sister; Doris Gorab and brother-in-law Herman Gorab of Pen Argyl, PA and his brother Julius DiRisio and sister-in-law Kathy DiRisio of Washington. Ray loved fishing, chopping wood, talking politics, and bragging about his grandchildren. In leiu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave Newton, NJ 07860-2614 or American Cancer Society, 507 Westminster Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. on Sunday November 28, 2010 in DeVoe Funeral Service 136 Washington Ave Washington NJ 07882 (908-689-0046).
