Obituary of Alice Whitmore

Alice C. Whitmore, 90, a long time resident of the Washington area, died Friday, July 10, 2009 in the Care Center of Brakeley Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Alice was born, September 17, 1918 in Washington, NJ, the daughter of the late Nathan C. and the late Catherine B. (Tigue) Slater. She was the wife of the late Frank Whitmore. She was a Correctional Officer, employed by Clinton Reformatory. Alice enjoyed bingo, reading and shopping. She was an avid lottery player and loved going to Atlantic City. She was a member of the Oxford Young at Heart Club. Alice is survived by three daughters: Judy Dunton and her husband David of Oxford, NJ, Brenda Kemmerer of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Nancy Kreis of Mt. Bethel, PA; a son, Danny Whitmore of Mt. Bethel, PA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice is predeceased by her son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Kreis, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
