Obituary of Linda Ann Whitehead
Linda Ann Whitehead, age 61, of Washington, New Jersey passed peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Linda was born on November 7, 1957 in Newark, New Jersey. She is the daughter of the late Martin Jr. and the late Estelle Marie (Kaczor) Suruda.
A graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School, Class of 1975, she married her beloved husband James E. Whitehead Jr. on April 19, 1979, as the couple met through a mutual friend. The initial two-hour date that the couple shared lead to 40 plus years of marriage, in which they amassed many memories together, the most memorable being the birth of their two children. Over the years, Linda worked as a packer for various glass/plastic container companies in the Belvidere and Washington area while raising her family.
She enjoyed bowling and participated in leagues at Oakwood Lanes with her husband and friends and enjoyed watching daytime soap operas and various games shows on television, as her favorites were Days of Our Lives and the Price is Right. Around the house she enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, yard maintenance, and would feed the birds and squirrels that made a daily visit to the yard. However, sewing was her passion, as she could often be found repairing worn clothing, she also designed costumes for her children during their childhood to celebrate Halloween. In addition to sewing, Linda also enjoyed making crafts and handmade decorations, which would be on display in the windows of the house for the different seasons and holidays.
Ultimately, Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren, as she would run around the house playing games at their command, she was also well known for spoiling them with goodies that were not allowed by their own parents.
Surviving is her husband James E. Whitehead Jr., son James W. Whitehead, daughter Jennifer L. Avia, four sisters, three brothers, and three grandchildren. Her sisters Deborah and Mary predeceased her in 2016.
