Obituary of Walter Douglas Drechsel
Walter Douglas “Doug” Drechsel , age 69, formerly of Washington and High Bridge NJ died peacefully Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Andover Subacute Rehabilitation Center after a six year long battle with dementia. Walter was born November 1, 1950 in Phillipsburg, NJ. He is the son of the late Walter Max and the late Elfriede (Oertel) Drechsel.
Doug was a member of the first graduating class of Warren Hills High School, he enjoyed playing football and wrestling during his days at Warren Hills. He would go on to attend and graduate from Trenton State College. After college he would work as a teacher before settling down with AT&T as a computer analyst.
When his daughter Emily was younger, he would spend his weekends taking her to horse shows and competitions all over the state and when she went off to college at Penn State they enjoyed their time watching Penn State football together.
Doug had a love for animals especially his dog Chloe, he also enjoyed listening to the Moody Blues.
He is survived by his loving daughter Emily Drechsel D.O. and her husband Brian Beltz of Southampton PA, sister: Diane Kerr and husband Richard of Easton, PA; also surviving is his former wife Judy Williams; seven nieces and one nephew.
Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Sunday November 17, from 1:00 pm until the start of the service at 2:00 pm at the Knoll – DeVoe Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington NJ.
