Obituary of Carol A Conroy
Carol A. Conroy, age 85, of Belvidere NJ, formerly a fifty year resident of Port Colden NJ died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at her home. Carol was born October 14, 1934 in Washington, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Alvin Burd and Margaret Nixon.
Born and raised in Washington NJ, Carol was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School, she married her late husband, Warren Conroy June 11, 1952 and he passed in February of 2007. Together they would raise their family in Port Colden. They raised beef cows and chickens on their property and always hosted great card games with family and friends.
Carol worked for many years at the Consumer Research Magazine as well as the ACE Washington One Stop. She was the Super Intendent of the Port Colden Methodist Sunday School. Carol enjoyed her bowling and BINGO and breakfast with the "Breakfast Club" at the diner. She also loved to crochet and made numerous hats and blankets for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter: Burnetta Van Hout and her companion Joey of Tucson, AZ, son: Ronald Conroy and his companion Myra Kay of Danville, PA; brother: Guy Burd and wife Joyce of Belvidere, NJ; sister in law, Phyllis Burd; Grandsons, Christopher Conroy and wife Monica, Curtis O'Mara, Andrew Conroy and wife Erica and Travis O'Mara; great grandson, Caden Conroy.
Carol was predeceased by her Son, Alvin Conroy, and Brother, Donald Burd.
Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Friday, July 10 at the Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882 from 11:00 am until the start of the service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carol's memory to Port Colden United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 215, NJ 07882.
