Obituary of Jake P Irwin

Jake P Irwin, age 22, of Washington, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Jake was born July 3, 1998 at Morristown Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Washington, Jake graduated from Warren Hills High School Class in 2017 where he enjoyed playing on the high school bowling team. Jake also enjoyed fishing and hiking.

Jake received his associate degree in applied science from the Honors College at Raritan Valley Community College in May of 2019 graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and a member of Enactus where he served as the Vice-President of Finance.

Jake then continued his education at Rutgers University majoring in civil engineering. Jake was about to enter his senior year at Rutgers University. Jake was a proud brother of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Jake was also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Jake is survived by his parents, Joseph Irwin and Kelly Shelton; his beloved sister: Samantha Irwin of Washington, New Jersey; maternal grandmother, Catherine Shelton of Naples, Florida; Paternal Grandparents, Michael and Harri-Ann Irwin of Vero Beach, Florida, his uncle William Shelton and his wife Vera, his aunt, Jennifer Turley and her husband Scot, and five cousins, Hailey, Ben, Talon, Kelan and Wyatt, as well as his many great uncles and aunts and second cousins. Jake was predeceased in death by his maternal grandfather, William Shelton.

All services will be held privately by Jake's family at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Education was very important to Jake. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either to the Raritan Valley Community College Foundation and please put in memory of Jake Irwin on the memo line or Rutgers University Foundation and please put the Jake Irwin Memorial Fund in the memo line.
