Obituary of Lester C. Black

 

Lester C. Black, age 74, of Bethlehem PA, formerly of Phillipsburg NJ, passed suddenly on Sunday, January 24, 2021.  Lester was born April 6, 1946 in Washington, NJ. He is the son of the late George Earl Black and the late Olive Mae (nee Latourette) Black.  

 

Lester proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969, he achieved the rank of Sergeant.  He worked for many years as an Engineering Equipment Operator for the US Government in Somerville NJ.

 

He was strong supporter of President Trump and loved to travel but, his home was always New Jersey. Lester was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.  

 

Lester is survived by his companion Darlene Cathers, his loving children, daughter: Shelly Black and fiancée Aaron Prewitt; sons: Lester Black Jr. and his wife Peggy; Jerry Black and his wife Andrea: two sisters: Janet Palmer and Husband Billy and Shirley Weaver, three brothers: Charlie Black and wife Linda, Paul Black and Don Black and wife Kim: grandchildren, Alex Black and wife Bree, Cody Lucas, Bailey and Shelby Black; great grandchildren, Adelyn and Braxtin 

 

Lester was predeceased by his parents and his brother George and sister Ruth Sperling.

 

Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Friday, January 29th from 11:00 am until the start of the service at 1:00 pm at the Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Interment with Military Honors, will be held at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton, NJ.
