Obituary of Herbert Gordon

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Herbert “Herb” Allan Gordon, born February 10, 1940, in New Brunswick, N.J. He was the son of the late Sam and Sylvia Gordon and predeceased by a brother Gerald Henry Gordon.

 

Herb is survived by his sister, Susan Ruth Gordon and her life partner Rich Burack, his wife of over 20 years Annaliese, two sons, David (wife Jennifer) and Brian (wife Kimberly), and stepson John Daniels; as well as his grandsons Tyler, Shawn, Corey, and Christian and granddaughter McKayla.

 

After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1958, he spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and 42 years as an automotive machinist at National Parts Supply Company in Flemington, N.J.  Before retiring in March 2007. Herb was also a 4H advisor for many years and a wrecker driver for over 20 years at the Flemington Fairgrounds.

 

During his retirement, Herb enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, going fishing, and watching stock car races. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

 

Relatives and friends may gather with Herb’s family on Monday, January 2nd, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, with words of remembrance and Air Force Honors starting at 3:00 pm. All services will be held at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington NJ 08809. Cremation will follow the services privately.
