Obituary of Paul Henry Rounsaville

Paul H. Rounsaville, age 78, of New York City, NY, passed away on January 18, 2023. Born on December 18, 1944 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry Rounsaville and Ruth F. (Bodine) Rounsaville. His mother was affectionately called "Aunt Dolly" by all of her siblings and family.


Paul graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1963 and Lycoming College of Williamsport, Pa in 1967. After graduation, Paul spent his whole life in New York City working and eventually retiring from Fountain House located in NY. He was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church and sang in many choirs throughout his life.


Paul had a love of music and a beautiful voice. He had a love of trains, both riding them on trips and setting up model trains in his apartment. . He opened his apartment to children to view his fabulous train lay-outs. His hobbies included swimming, biking and walking in his beloved New York City. Paul volunteered in NY for the Food Pantry, for shut-ins, and gardening in area church gardens. He traveled extensively, and his last trip to Germany was special to him. Paul loved life and his family and will be dearly missed by all.


He is survived by a brother Donald Rounsaville Sr. in New York State; his sister-in-law, Betty Rounsaville (spouse of his deceased brother Almon Rounsaville Sr.); his beloved cat "Dolly" named after his mother; cousins, Linda Kries Hendershot, and Kenneth Kries (Heather); several nieces and nephews: Donald Jr., Dennis, Raymond, Joseph, Betty Day, Amy, Almon Jr., Alan and Arron.


In addition to his parents, Paul is predeceased by his sister, Ruth Elaine Rounsaville; brother, Almon Rounsaville, Sr.; and his companion, Al Carmine.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s name may be made to Fountain House or the Asbury Methodist Church, 455 Old Main St, Asbury, NJ 08802.


Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home, 142 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 pm on March 4th, at the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, 455 Old Main Street, Asbury NJ 08802.
