Obituary of Dorothy Bulmer

Dorothy  “Dot” Bulmer (nee Henderson), 93, formerly of Hampton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2023. Dorothy was born in Washington, New Jersey on October 8th, 1929 to the late Andrew and Jennie Henderson. Dorothy graduated from Washington High School in 1947. On March 27th, 1948 Dorothy Henderson became Dorothy Bulmer when she married her sweetheart Kenneth Bulmer with whom she shared 53 years. Dorothy was also a mother and raised three children Kenneth, Gary and Debra all of whom predeceased her. 

After getting married Dorothy settled down in Hampton, New Jersey where she raised her family. She worked as a Senior Therapy Assistant at Hunterdon Developmental Center for many years before her retirement. She was also very active in the United Methodist Church of Hampton where she volunteered as the Superintendent and Sunday school teacher as well as the treasurer of the church. She also hosted many dinner fundraisers at the church. Dorothy also was a Trustee at the Port Colden Methodist Church. For many years Dorothy also served as the Girl Scout Troop Leader in Hampton. And somehow she also managed to be an active member in the Hampton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. 

Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law Susan Bulmer, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Dorothy is predeceased by her beloved husband Kenneth Bulmer, her sons Kenneth and Gary Bulmer, daughter Debra Seiple, brothers Charles, Thomas, Joseph and Andrew Henderson, and by her sisters Hettie, Frances, and Elizabeth Henderson and Jennie Mertz. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Hampton Borough Fire Department or to the United Methodist Church of Port Colden, New Jersey. 

All services for Dorothy will be held privately in accordance with her family’s wishes, under the care of Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Washington, NJ.
