Obituary of Barbara Lynn Galindez

Barbara L. Galindez (neé Smith), 59, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey passed away on July 21st, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born on August 26th, 1963 to loving parents Marion and the late Victor Smith in Teaneck, New Jersey and affectionally earned the nickname “Bobsie” from a young age. Barbara was raised in Teaneck and attended Teaneck High School. Barbara was a loving mother to her children daughter Jennifer and son Michael who passed away in 2015. Barbara’s family was her world and the love she had for them was perpetual. Barbara was a woman strong in her faith and we now hope that she rests in the house of the lord forever. For many years Barbara was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Washington, New Jersey. Throughout her life Barbara enjoyed cooking and learning new recipes to try in the kitchen, and she was an excellent cook. In fact, you could guarantee you would never leave her table and still be hungry. Barbara also had a passion for music, specifically instrumental works, end loved to truly feel the music that she was listening to.

Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter Jennifer Galindez, her mother Marion Smith, sister Pamela J. Haas, brother Edward Smith, 3 Grandchildren, and 1 Great- Grandchild.

Barbara is predeceased by her son Michael Todd Smith and by her father Victor Smith.

A Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday July 27th, 2023 from 2PM-4PM at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. Following the Memorial Service family and friends are invited back to Scotty’s Stadium Club for a time of fellowship, Scotty’s is located at 15 Belvidere Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882.
