Obituary of James Page Conway

James Page Conway, 79, of Washington, New Jersey, formerly of Williamsport, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital Warren. James was born on September 29th, 1944 to the late Page and Marie Conway in Williamsport, PA. James was raised in Williamsport and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1962. Following high school James joined the United States Navy where he proudly served from 1963 to 1965 aboard the USS Waldo County earning the rank of E-3 before his honorable discharge. Once back home James started a family and had a son Brian Conway whom he adored. James worked as a welder and eventually became a quality control officer with Westinghouse and then for Curtis Wright , ensuring that only to finest of work was manufactured and sold.

 

For the past 27 years James has shared his life with his Partner Roberta Housel and their love for one another was limitless. Together James and Roberta had quite a large business and hobby buying and selling military surplus items. James’ most prized possession over the years though, was the 1952 Willy’s Jeep that he restored to its original glory, machine gun mounted and all. James was a life member of the Spruce Run Memorial VFW Post 5119 as well as a member of the American Legion Post #617 of South Williamsport, PA. James was also a member of the RedBall Military Transport Club often traveling to shows and expos around the east coast.

 

James is predeceased by his parents Page James Conway and Marie Conway, and by his sister Mary Ann Conway.

 

James will be forever missed by his partner Roberta Housel, his son Brian P. Conway, sister Margaret C. Robertson and her husband Robert, and by the countless friends he has made throughout his life. 

 

Family and Friends are called to gather for a visitation on Thursday December 14th, 2023 from 4pm until 6pm at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey, 07882.

 

James will be laid to rest privately in Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
